Béla Hartmann
Béla Hartmann has been teaching since 1995, privately, as a visiting music
teacher at prestigious schools, at music centres and at both junior departments
and senior music college. His pupils have ranged from beginners aged 4 to
seasoned pianists in their 90s, from adults revisiting their childhood
instrument to young aspiring pianists attending music college, from adults or
children with no knowledge of music to those who live and breathe piano.
His pupils have performed as soloists with orchestra, won music scholarships to
senior schools, gained entry to junior and senior departments at music colleges,
won prizes at music festivals, earned distinctions in graded exams – and/or just
enjoyed themselves playing the piano, getting to know new pieces, developing new
skills and exercising their mind and fingers.
Béla has also acted as adjudicator at high level competitions, given
masterclasses and workshops, and recently began writing small and larger pieces
for pupils, both for solo players and small ensembles. He believes passionately
that music can be a wonderful presence in anyone’s life, and that with the right
guidance and some modest, regular effort a space can be opened up that can
enrich and reward for a lifetime.
Béla Hartmann teaches at Canford School, Christ's Hospital
and Winchester College.
